Last night I went to an introductory meeting at Call to Arms Brewery to find out who the Save Our Youth organization is. They have been around since 1994 helping to mentor at risk youth. I had the pleasure of meeting their founder, Luis Villareal, and found him to be a very humble person. Just last year in 2017 alone they had mentored over 400 at risk youth.
A guest speaker at the meeting was a former mentored youth in their program. He spoke from the heart about how Save Our Youth did indeed save him, literally. Some of his friends have been killed, in jail, etc. His mentor stayed with him for over three years and helped him to get away from the crime in his neighborhood. He also helped to train him for a job that he has had for the last 14 years, and doing very well. He owes his success and happy family life to Save Our Youth and his mentor.
If you have the time to help save a child's life, look into volunteering as a mentor with this fine organization.
